"Rapist" kidnapped, tortured and "crucified" in Mexico

A suspected rapist was forcibly taken from police custody and apparently tortured, castrated and murdered before being "crucified" on a roadside pole in the district of Contepec in Michoacán, western Mexico, the Notimex news agency reported on 7 September, citing the Prosecutor-General's office. A note nailed to his chest - apparently with a pick-axe - stated that "this happened to me for being a rapist" and warned the same would happen to "chatterers," presumably anyone informing on the incident, the review Proceso was cited as reporting. The 24-year-old victim had been charged with an armed rape attack on 3 September; he was reportedly kidnapped by armed men when police took him for a medical checkup and found dead on 7 September.
